    Kristin Lowrey, LICSW, PIP

    I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with over 20 years of experience working with individual adults, families, adolescents, and children. I specialize in working with anxiety, attachment struggles or complex developmental trauma, parenting support, and trauma related struggles.

    I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Harding University and my Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a concentration in Clinical Work with Families and Children. I began my professional career working in child welfare while in Maryland. After moving to Alabama, I worked at Children’s Hospital of Alabama and the CHIPS Center where my clinical work focused on helping children and families who were impacted by child trauma. I have spent the last several years at Pathways Professional Counseling, a family ministry of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, where I served as the Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Counseling.

    I have training in many counseling modalities as well as extensive training in attachment-based therapies including the utilization of Theraplay techniques, the Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) model, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) to work with children and families. I have completed the Level 1 and Level 2 training in the utilization of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help individuals process trauma and have completed the Training for Adoption Competency (TAC).

    I have had the honor of presenting at national and international professional conferences as well as national adoption/foster care conferences.
